Job Description
- Serve as a Classification and Compensation consultant.
- Answer questions for managers and field HR technicians.
- Direct managers and field HR technicians on classification actions.
- Serve on committees and attend meetings.
- Assist in developing internal and external training for unit staff and field HR technicians.
- Produce NCDOT reports for projects and requests.
- Determine if documentation submitted is sufficient.
- Conduct analysis of position findings, make comparisons to other positions, and make decisions on appropriate actions.
- Independently develop study plans, strategies, and timeframes to ensure that all issues and problems are addressed and that study plans are manageable.
- Meets independently with management to present recommendations for position allocations, concepts, and salary grade levels; normally requiring negotiation.
- Knowledge of personnel and management practices, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting personnel and department guidelines and policies.
- Knowledge of Federal and State Laws relating to Human Resources.
- Demonstrated ability communicating with employees and management on a one-on-one and group basis.
- Knowledge of alternate pay and classification programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field; or
- High School/GED Diploma, and
- 3+years of progressive HR experience; or
- An equivalent combination or education and experience.
