Permanent Job: HR Assistant   / Cynorthwydd AD

A fantastic HR Assistant job with a friendly, passionate and experienced HR team in Wales’s leading cancer charity. We’re looking for HR entry-level experience to support our shops at the forefront of HR admin, recruitment and first-line HR Assistant advice when it comes to our HR policies and processes.

HR Assistant Salary: £22,000

Full Time Hours: 35 hours per week working flexibly across Monday – Friday with lifestyle hours to suit.

Our core staff working hours are 11am to 3pm. With operating hours between 7am – 9pm it gives you the opportunity to manage and blend your hours around our core times to fit in with your work and lifestyle commitments as well as the needs of the role.

Work location: Home / Cardiff City Centre Head Office CF10.

We support flexibility and good working relationships so encourage our staff to office work as much as they can to build team relationships and more especially during the probation period. With no minimum weekly expectation we’re super flexible with home/office working arrangements that fit lifestyle options with office based work as required. For example we’d expect you to attend a monthly team meeting or training /HR & induction meetings to help you carry out your role effectively.

The HR Assistant Role

We’re looking for someone who already has a grounding in entry-level HR work and is looking to bring this to a generalist assistant role in a small and busy HR department. Being CIPD qualified is not an essential but it’s an opportunity that would suit you if you’re looking to expand your skills and experience in this field

The role has a key focus on supporting our retail arm of 56 shops. You’ll support them with day to day HR admin, enquiries and in handling matters such as absence processes, developing recruitment strategies and activities and effectively managing employee relations. You’ll also get exposure to Health & Safety work too dealing with its associated admin, inbox management, and following up on reports and escalation matters

As HR Assistant you’ll have experience in:

  • HR – you’ve done this type of work already so you know about HR admin, policies and procedures and how to go about things in this field. It’s a great move for your next step and join a forward-thinking organisation where you can grow, learn & develop as a HR professional
  • Databases, systems and admin – you know how important data, efficiency and accuracy is when it comes to HR work
  • Supporting the implementation of policies & processes – the way you go about work underpins things through agreed standards, efficiency and fairness in how you go about supporting people. And, you make policies relevant to the people that matter

You’re skilled with:

  • A balance of having a creative flair and being able to apply logical thinking and common sense
  • A good level of HR experience in a busy role with an appetite to grow in the Third Sector
  • Customer service experience (by phone, in person and online) and a team attitude
  • A way of working that’s flexible where you can adapt to the flow and also keep your eye on the ball
  • Always seeing the bigger picture and being purposeful in your approach
