Temporary Housing Stability Specialist at Supportive Housing

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Housing Stability Specialist or Home Care Specialist is a limited term, grant funded position (anticipated to last for one-year). The position works as part of the site team, to enhance housing stability and quality of life for some of the most vulnerable residents. In this role, the Specialist will observe, create recommendations and action plans, and actively participate in tasks to correct poor, unhealthy or high-risk living conditions including housekeeping concerns, health/hygiene and nutrition concerns. This is a unionized position, represented by Local 8 of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU).

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Providing eighty (80) units of permanent supportive housing to individuals who have experienced chronic homelessness and have at least one disability. The program offers case management and resources to help participants stabilize in housing by addressing barriers that have contributed to housing concerns. At Nyer Urness House improving one’s quality of life with supports on site and connecting to community resources is critical. All units are filled through the Coordinated Entry system (CEA). Twenty-one (21) units are set aside for Veterans who have experienced homelessness.

LOCATION: Ballard Neighborhood in Seattle, WA
REPORTS TO: Program Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Tuesday & Thursday 9am-5:30pm and Wednesday & Friday 10am-6:30pm; with monthly staff meetings last Wednesday 11am-12:30pm
SALARY RANGE: $19.71 per hour
FULL-TIME BENEFITS PACKAGE INCLUDES: Unlimited Orca Transportation Pass, Medical/Prescription/Vision, Dental, $500 Health Flexible Spending Account 4 Weeks of Paid Time Off (PTO) & 11 Paid Holidays, Retirement Plan, Employee Assistance Program.

QUALIFICATIONS
• High School Diploma, required.
• 1-year experience in providing care to the vulnerable populations, including seniors, mental and behavioral health clients, desired.
• Awareness and/or training around issues of equity, intersectionality, and belonging.
• Current WA State Food Handlers Permit, desired (If not current, will be sponsored within 1-month of hire).
• Familiarity with issues of homelessness, mental illness, chemical dependency, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence, required.
• Experience working with clients with English as a second language or where there is limited English speaking ability, desired.
