Full-Time Housekeeper
Job Description
Elmira College is a private liberal arts College located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Seeking innovative professionals from diverse backgrounds to fill the position of Housekeeper to join the Murray Athletic Center (MAC) Facilities team.
The MAC Housekeeper is responsible for attending to facilities with integrity and attention to detail to create a clean and orderly environment for Students, Staff, and all guests. This position will require some evenings and possibly every other weekend from October-March.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain, clean and disinfected bathrooms (showers, toilets, sinks, etc.), locker rooms, and offices;
- Maintain supplies: stocking supplies in storage areas or closets;
- Vacuuming and carpet cleaning; may use a floor machine and buffer, broom, mop, etc.;
- Clean windows, walls, and woodwork;
- Remove trash and recyclables;
- Dusting and polishing;
- Assist with hockey games or special events as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school education and/ or GED preferred;
- 6 months related experience preferred;
- Ability to use a computer/Tablet for email and record keeping;
- Ability to stand for long periods of time; Ability to stoop, bend, twist and reach;
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds;
- Maintain flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed;
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently with minimal supervision.

BASIS OF PAY: Hourly, Non-Exempt

WORKING CONDITIONS: While performing essential functions of this position, Housekeepers work in indoor campus settings. In some cases, housekeepers may be outdoors when having to walk from building to building. Housekeepers work with cleaning chemicals and may be in contact with soiled items, body fluids, airborne particles, fumes and dust. The noise level is typically low to moderate. All employees must follow all PPE recommendations set forth by Elmira College and the Facilities Management Administration.
