Hotel Maintenance Supervisor
Wage Rates $65,000 to $75,000 per year (DOE and state)
The hotel is a hospitality project from Gjelina Group, encompassing a guest house, hotel, event space, and outdoor courtyard – one block from the Boardwalk and Beach in Venice, CA.
The hotel’s interiors are inspired by the utility of traditional boarding houses and private hotels, combining utilitarian and reclaimed materials. The space includes a lower-level outdoor courtyard & event space; central lobby & public space; and guest rooms. Upstairs, multi-room guest suites and expansive shared outdoor terrace.
Furnishings include a selection of vintage finds and custom furniture – and finished with linens, homewares, apothecary goods, ceramics, and pantry items from our home goods shop Gjusta Goods.
POSITION SUMMARY: Hotel Maintenance Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department. Evaluates systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed. Assesses building systems to plan work assignments and project schedules. Develops maintenance procedures and schedules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned):
- Prepare maintenance schedules in line with the organization’s maintenance goals and monitoring PM compliance.
- Frequently inspect facilities to proactively detect potential problems and recommend the necessary repair or maintenance.
- Oversee and enforce good record-keeping practices (be it pen and paper or hotel software)
- Generate work orders, enter comprehensive job details, and assign work to qualified team members.
- Occasionally inspect the quality of performed maintenance work
- Communicate policies, procedures, and any updates to maintenance staff
- Check that every single job is executed on time, to the budget, and without compromising building users’ safety.
- Work closely with vendors, outsourced service providers, and contractors to protect the interests of the facility.
- Monitor and maintain materials and spare parts inventory.
- Development of maintenance procedures and proactive maintenance programs like preventative maintenance.
- Recommend budget items, contributing to the development of an annual maintenance budget.
- Recommend upgrades, overhauls, and other changes to major systems and equipment.
- Actively participate in projects (e.g., remodeling or renovation).
- Help out with day-to-day equipment maintenance work when needed.
- Check that the premises are safe and not in violation of any regulations.
- Inspect hotel regularly to ensure it meets safety standards
- Arrange for routine maintenance in hotel rooms, lobbies, and facilities
- Organize repair projects in a manner that does not disturb guests
- Plan and oversee renovations and construction
- Act fast to resolve emergency issues (e.g., power outages)
- Find ways to reduce hotel operating costs and conserve energy
- Supervise team of Maintenance Technicians and Janitors
- Manage relationships with contractors and service providers
- Maintain budgets, expenses, and activity logs
- Report and return any guest properties found on property
- Report cases of property damage in commercial spaces to supervisor
- Collect and remove trash and debris, as needed
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.

- Proven experience as a Hotel Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Supervisor
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Familiarity with plumbing, electrical, sewer and HVAC systems; hotel industry experience is a plus
- Experience in administrative processes (e.g., budgeting, performance management)
- Ability to spot safety risks and address needs quickly
- Problem-solving aptitude
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; degree from a vocational school or BSc/BA in Facility Management is preferred
- Valid Certified Professional Maintenance Manager (CPMM) is a plus Ability to adapt to a fluid environment
- Must be able to maintain a positive attitude under stressful work conditions
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Some local travel may be required
