Full-Time Head of Technology Audit

Job Description

Role Purpose

To provide group assurance on the internal control, risk management and corporate governance arrangements of technology operations, infrastructure and cybersecurity services. This role requires partnering with technology senior management, providing advice on governance matters, developing and delivering technology assurance and value add reviews, responding flexibly in a dynamic environment and enhancing the capabilities and deliverables of the Group Internal Audit function.

Key accountabilities

  • Create, lead and deliver the Group Internal Audit strategy, specifically the Technology Audit strategy and methodology.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to prepare and design the technology reviews to be included in the annual risk-based audit plan, ensuring adequate resources to deliver the level of assurance.
  • Supervise, technically review and execute technology audits and ad-hoc reviews to ensure they are delivered within the agreed timescales, methodology and quality.
  • Provide advice and insights to strengthen risk management, governance and internal controls.
  • Coordinate and prepare papers and reports for the Audit Committee.
  • Build positive business partnerships with senior technology stakeholders, promoting internal audit as a value adding activity.
  • Engage, coordinate and manage external auditors and co-source resources.
  • Continuously improve and enhance the Group Internal Audit function digital offering and capabilities, embracing automation and data analytics.
  • Provide strong leadership, coaching and management to motivate and nurture talent, maintaining a high performing and credible team.

Skills & Experience

  • Background – Experienced senior manager or Head level audit professional (minimum 5 years) who has worked in fast moving environments with immature/developing risk/control frameworks.  Successful track record of audit and risk experience. Ability to operate in a flat organisational structure with direct exposure to Executives. Experience in technology services and telecommunications is preferable, but not essential.
  • Technology Experience – Significant experience and strong knowledge across key technology domains methodology and practices, including infrastructure (networks, databases and operating systems), cyber security, ITIL practices, data analytics, applications (ERP and cloud solutions) and emerging technologies. Demonstrates a proven track record in conducting technology reviews, advising and influencing business stakeholders on the design, implementation and effective application of IT controls.
  • Commercial Focus – Demonstrates a proven track record of identifying, assessing and evaluating risks and controls, advising business stakeholders through providing insight and innovative commercial solutions, from a risk perspective, while understanding the commercial view. Experience of ad-hoc participation in business committees and working groups, is advantageous
  • Communication and Influencing Skills – Proven track record developing strong stakeholder relationships, excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Able to manage complex internal and external relationships demonstrating gravitas, influence and a supportive style. Skilled relationship developer with the ability to effectively challenge and influence ELT and senior management on audit/risk matters and build partnerships with other assurance functions and the business to embed good corporate governance across Colt
  • Leadership – Strong leader with significant experience.in people management; supporting peer and leading high performance teams to meet pre-agreed deadlines. Work effectively with the team members and the business
