Full-Time Head of Talent Acquisition
Job Description
Head of Talent Acquisition
Who we are:
At 8th Light, we take a human-centered approach to software development, collaborating with the people writing the code as well as those using it. We embrace the need for adaptability in a constantly changing world. We are a team of polyglot generalists—thinkers and doers ready to take on most any challenge that we encounter.
An employee-owned software consultancy, we consider software development a craft. Our team of expert developers and designers hold the title of “Crafter” to reflect our dedication to quality, our emphasis on continual learning, and our belief that software is truly a craft—something that we take pride in, and value highly. We value colleagues who enjoy learning and teaching, which creates our collaborative organization.
We enjoy working with empathetic, passionate collaborators who value the work they do. If this approach resonates with you, we’d love to talk.
The Role
The Head of Talent Acquisition will report directly to the VP of People and will be responsible for engaging with professional technical communities to establish a network for successful long term recruitment strategies. This critical role will be a part of the overall People Strategy of our organization. You will have a strong role in developing talent acquisition strategy for all hires in our organization as we grow our global footprint in both the US and the United Kingdom. Who you are:
To grow our community, we are seeking a full-time strategic Head of Talent Acquisition to connect with and recruit apprentices, designers, developers, technical leaders and more. You have:
- 5+ years experience sourcing, recruiting, and building relationships with diverse technology professionals.
- Creative and effective approach to developing and implementing talent acquisition strategy.
- A proven track record and passion for attracting diverse talent to technical organizations.
- Collaborate effectively with executives and colleagues to build a strong candidate experience.
- Excellent relationship building and networking skills, focused on cultivating relationships in service of our business growth objectives.
- Excellent organizational skills, with ability to prioritize effectively and manage projects smoothly.
- An ability to raise issues quickly and propose alternate solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- An ability to impact change and results without close supervision.
What you’ll do:
- Working with the VP of People and 8th Light staff to build and manage a diverse network of developers and technical professionals inside and outside of our immediate community.
- Manage the Recruitment Coordinator role. You will play a strong role in the selection, hiring and mentoring of this position.
- With a focus on diversity, develop relationships with key organizations, professional associations, educational institutions, sourcing groups, etc. to cultivate our talent pipeline.
- Advise on all aspects of the interview and hiring process. This includes coaching our teams on job expectations, shaping relevant candidate pools, interview processes, trainings and hiring decisions.
- Drive a positive candidate experience throughout the entire process – from the initial point of contact, through the interview and offer stages, and start date.
- Evaluate the end-to-end experiences by the candidate, interviewers, hiring managers, and sourcing groups for continuous improvement.
- Assist in matching technical talent according to experience and skill set in team-building for specific opportunities within 8th Light.
- Connect with the technical communities globally to evangelize 8th Light’s mission to improve the quality of software around the world through team and craft.
