We are looking to hire a Head of Content to join our expanding team. As Head of Content, your role will be to help develop and drive our content creation strategy for our blog and free resources in our mission to create the best, most practical guidance for students navigating the college application process. You will be pivotal in helping drive our content strategy and vision, managing a team of writers, and growing traffic to College Essay Guy’s website as a leading and trusted resource for students, parents and counselors on the path to college.
You’ll join a small team of motivated teachers, educators, writers, counselors and coaches committed to leveling the playing field and increasing access to higher education for students on their education journey.
Core Responsibilities
As Head of Content, you’ll:
- Work closely with the College Essay Guy team to establish a vision, set goals, and build a strategy around the continued creation and updating of guides, blog posts, and free and pay-what-you-can resources.
- Oversee execution of our content strategy to reach our team and company goals around resource creation, website traffic growth, and email subscriptions to increase brand awareness and our impact in the world.
- Manage a library of content (blog posts, guides, PDF resources, oh my) and ensure that content is updated regularly to reflect changes in the ever-changing college admissions process
- Be an expert project manager with experience overseeing people and collaborating with stakeholders across departments. You’ll have an eye for detail in helping manage our content creation pipeline from initial idea sourcing to final publication.
- Be committed to helping bring more ease, purpose, joy and access to the college admissions process.
Qualifications Needed
- At least 2 years of experience in a direct management role
- 2+ years of experience in content marketing strategy, writing, publishing, journalism, or an adjacent field
- While you won’t be doing extensive writing in this role, you’ll be an effective writer and communicator and be able to establish and communicate our brand voice to our writing team
- A working knowledge of SEO and SEM, management tools like Google Analytics, Ahrefs, or SEMrush and eagerness to understand and set goals around organic search
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the college admissions process and the challenges students, parents, and counselors face in the college admissions process
- Experience in conversion optimization and understanding how blog visitors and website traffic convert into subscribers, customers, and ultimately superfans
Salary, Benefits, Start Date
- This is anticipated to be a full-time position, with an expected salary range of $60k – $80k, depending on experience, with flexibility on initially beginning as a part-time role (20+ hrs/week).

- We’d love for you to start as soon as possible, but flexible on start dates through the middle of 2022.
