EDV includes multi-platform social, highly successful mobile gaming apps, a burgeoning podcast portfolio, owned and operated platforms, and a thriving DTC and E Commerce business.

The Head of Content is a critical and demanding role within the EDV organization. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Head of Content will serve as a member of the Executive team, and will oversee all Creative, Brand and Editorial Operations across EDV’s portfolio, including Social, Video, Mobile Games, Podcasts and E Commerce, with P&L ownership for all creative products and services under the EDV banner. From day one, the ideal candidate will have an immediate impact on the company’s creative messaging and content strategy, demonstrating expertise in developing, deploying and maintaining consistent brand voice internally and across all forms of media and distribution. The role requires experience in hands- on and operational corporate systems navigation, capacity to drive high-growth media businesses and ability to execute an overall corporate vision, while bridge-building across EDV departments, The Ellen Show and WarnerMedia. Finally, the Head of Content will lead by example by representing core leadership values – integrity, empathy, curiosity, adaptability, accountability, and conviction.

This role is based in Warner Brothers Studio office in Burbank. Salary is highly competitive and commensurate with experience.

Core Responsibilities:

Partnering with the Head of Business Operations and in close collaboration with the General Manager, the Head of Content will develop, operationalize, and track the success of the overall content strategy and brand vision for EDV properties, in support of the strategic company vision. The successful candidate will know how to lead and inspire the ongoing development of premium, first-class content, inclusive of videos, infographics, blogs, audio, games, and data visualization, to ensure optimal content delivery to multiple audience targets across an expanding base of channels.

The Head of Content will be responsible for development and execution of short and long-term video and games business strategy; management of product development and digital product offerings across video, games and new business opportunities; customer acquisition and

retention; and operational and financial plans. Responsibilities include designing and communicating cross-team KPIs, and monitoring, analyzing, and driving achievement of revenue and operating targets. Direct reports will include leads for Content Innovation, Social Media, Games Content, Audio Content, Video Content, and .com and mobile app platforms.

Day-to-day work efforts will include:

  • Development and optimization of best-of-breed content departments, including Social, Games, Short + Longform Video, Podcasts, O&O editorial, newsletter(s) and DTC subscriptions.
  • Creation and maintenance of cross-department relationships to foster success, including assessment and filling of key gaps.
  • Directional oversight of content ideation, development, programming strategies, and distribution planning.
  • Inspire the content organization to think big and innovatively, constantly developing new ways to tell stories and find audiences.
  • Management of all EDV social channels, from content to platform partnerships to revenue optimization.
  • Create and optimize editorial and content programming strategies.
  • Ongoing analysis of key content and audience drivers, competitors and partners, and relevant market trends to best inform content, product and business strategies and accelerate EDV to the forefront of digital media.
  • Amplification of brand awareness and content engagement via innovative marketing offerings, social media execution and other audience-driving initiatives.
  • Development and clear articulation of cross-departmental annual, quarterly and daily goals and KPIs.
  • Management and executive read-outs of content “health” and key brand metrics  across audience, platforms, content and revenue.
  • Participation in industry events, panels, thought-leadership pieces and any other activities in the service of the EDV brand and its values.
  • Recruiting, mentorship and management of a stellar team of creative and business minded individuals who will take EDV to the next level of entertainment, engagement and revenue.

Success criteria for this role are threefold: innovation and creativity in support of the EDV brand portfolio; operational efficiency that ensures all initiatives launch on-time and on-budget; and profitability, including working in close partnership with the Sales Org, external partners and third-party platforms to achieve transparent benchmarks and goals.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 10+ years of Content, Communications, Media and Brand experience in an Executive role.
  • Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business Administration, English, Public Relations, International Relations, Information Technology, Law, Psychology, or any other related field. Equivalent working experience is also acceptable.
  • An innovator who demonstrates honesty, integrity and decency at every front, viewed by colleagues as consistently trustworthy, engaging, inspiring and supportive.
  • Proven team management, particularly leadership across successful editorial and business teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, across senior management, peers, cross-company stakeholders and direct reports, as well as external partners and customers.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills, including collaboration expertise, ability to forecast and manage projects to deadlines, and capacity for constant multitasking and prioritization.
  • Excellence in designing, persuasively presenting and iterating with conviction complex business concepts, new ideas and strategies.
  • Outstanding leadership skills, enabling efficient and successful management of internal/external meetings, including chairing advisory board meetings, with ability to inspire collective work toward a unified vision.
