Job Description
British Triathlon is the National Governing Body for Triathlon, Duathlon and Aquathlon in Great Britain, responsible for raising the profile and delivering medal-winning performances and helping everyone discover, enjoy and achieve in triathlon.
Triathlon England is one of the three Home Nations of British Triathlon, the other two being TriathlonScotland and Welsh Triathlon. The three Home Nation Associations are responsible for all aspects of triathlon in their respective countries, and contribute to the work of British Triathlon.
British Triathlon promotes a number of world leading events which sees the world’s best triathletes and paratriathletes compete alongside thousands of mass participants. It is British Triathlon’s strategic objective to deliver truly inspirational events which support the growth of the sport across all areas. The major events team are responsible for delivering a range of events, and do so by working closely with our Home Nation organisations and partners such as city councils, venues, event delivery agencies and contractors as well delivering some events internally.
The Head of Major Events will work with the Director of Events to deliver an inspiring events work stream within the triathlon strategy to 2024. They will lead the delivery of the British Triathlon major events and will be the sports technical lead for European and World level races staged in the UK ensuring the sport delivers on responsibilities and objectives are met. They will also ensure approved events are delivered on time and within budget. They will also be the project lead on maximising new projects within the sport such as the Event Entry System and Tri Connect. They will be responsible for ensuring the sport stays abreast of key risk areas such as highways legislation for events and develops strategies accordingly.
An excellent communicator, it is expected that this individual will have significant experience of event management in complex environments ideally within triathlon or cycling. Experience of working in partnerships with International Federations or international events would also be an advantage.

The roles will be based at the British Triathlon headquarters located at Loughborough University; however, the nature of the roles will require evening and weekend working and significant travel.
