Job Description:
The individual filling this position is expected to play a positive role in helping the College change as necessary to effectively carry out its mission.
The Grants Assistant position is directly accountable to the Director of Finance and Accounting for the following duties and responsibilities:
In support of the Grants Accountant, assist to maintain budgetary and accountability control over the Restricted Fund group related to grants awarded including:
- Assist with the development of the Annual Budget for the grants.
- Post approved grant budgets, budget amendments and financial transactions.
- Review and approve travel, credit card transactions, and requisitions.
- Provide administrative support to Program Managers to include official correspondence and invoicing.
- Prepare and post routine journal entries related to administrative/indirect costs.
- Prepare all required federal, state, local, grantor and internal reports including annual SEFA.
- Respond to internal and external audit requests.
- Prepare monthly Board of Trustee materials as assigned. Plan, coordinate and provide NWFSC training in Banner Finance in counsel with Assistant Controller.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director of Finance and Accounting.

Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED plus one (1) to four (4) years relevant work experience required, associate degree preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience in the accounting field preferred.
- Experience in higher education or governmental accounting preferred.
- Strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
- Technical proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
- Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task, act independently, work well with others.
