Internship Government Liaison

About The Role: The Government Liaison is responsible for reaching out to consulates and elected officials around the world to advance the interest of LGBTQIA+ and other doubly marginalized refugees in terms of immediate physical safety, core housing and food needs, asylum priority and general policy and advocacy concerns

 

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain positive and harmonious relationships with other relevant governmental bodies.
  • Compile and synthesize relevant policy changes, instructions, and governmental strategies and provide recommendations to adapt programming, inform advocacy efforts, and align proposal development processes with emerging governmental priorities.
  • Work with the Grants and Partnerships Coordinator, Program Coordinators, and Communications Team to identify government entities and government departments relevant to Safe Place International’s priority outcome areas and programs and identify strategies and priorities.
  • Assist in building and maintaining good relationships with governmental bodies and other influential partners.
  • Ensure quality information management through regular maintenance of documentation for new proposals, reporting, meeting summaries, etc.
  • Assist in preparing, reviewing, and documenting Memorandums of Understanding, Collaborative Agreements, with subsequent modifications as needed.
  • Develop engagement strategies for each of the relevant government entities.
  • Represent Safe Place International at virtual and in-person events as needed.
  • Utilize platforms adopted by SPI (e.g. Google Suite, Slack)
  • Help build a workplace culture that is anti-racist, inclusive, equitable, trauma-informed, and team member-centric.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Founder.

    What Else You Should Know:

    This role is a remote volunteer position. There is no fixed location requirement, but the Government Liaison must be available to meet and collaborate with team members located primarily in North America, Europe, and Africa.
