Full-Time Golf Course Maintenance Specialist

This position pays $32,661 per year
CLASS SUMMARY:
This is the first of four levels in the Golf Course Maintenance series. Incumbents maintain the grounds of a golf course. Responsibilities may include mowing greens and fairways; repairing irrigation systems; trimming trees; seeding grass; changing hole locations; and repairing sand bunkers.
- Performs general course maintenance duties including maintaining the course’s visual appearance which may include trimming, mowing, and trash pickup; seeding grass; changing hole locations; and additional maintenance projects as required.
- Performs course repair and course preservation duties including tending to course areas requiring special maintenance, irrigation repair, and related activities.
- Performs manual labor activities which may include: gathering materials and equipment; moving equipment; collecting and disposing of trash; repairing sand bunkers; and/or performing related activities.
- Operates and maintains a variety of equipment, which includes performing routine preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and three years experience in golf course maintenance; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Licensing Requirements:
- Driver’s License
Knowledge of:
- Applicable course maintenance tools and equipment;
- Course layout;
- Manual labor;
- Safe work practices.
Skill in:
- Golf course operations;
- Using and caring for applicable tools and equipment;
- Performing maintenance and repairs in assigned area of responsibility;
- Performing manual labor;
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Positions in this class typically require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be subjected to fumes, odors, dust, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, and travel.
