Reporting to the Chief Executive, this is a fantastic opportunity to lead the External Communication and Brand function of an international powerhouse of learning and assessment with global sales of £850m and almost 6,000 people worldwide. The role is both domestic and global, requiring engagement and influencing in the UK and supporting our activities around the world.

The Role

In this role you will lead our external communications and brand team, around all our operations globally and our high-profile UK examinations board.

You will support the strategy and development of our brand, in close collaboration with our product groups and liaising closely with the University to ensure coherence of brand and brand policy across Cambridge.

Principal accountabilities include:

  • Directly leading the central External Communication and Brand team and working closely with the research team, the business unit public affairs teams, and regional teams around the world
  • Positioning the brand of Cambridge University Press & Assessment to build on existing customer loyalty and supporting its significant ambitions for growth
  • Supporting the Chief Executive and the Executive Board in all significant events, actions and stories relating to the organisation, including crisis management, risk and reputation
  • Ensuring that the organisation’s influencing, communications and brand approaches are outstanding, and that its staff are equipped to deliver them
  • Managing the finances of the External Communication and Brand team

About you

To be successful in this role you’ll need exceptional network building, influencing and team management skills and must be comfortable in a complex environment with significant UK and global operations. You will have first class communications skills and the ability to inspire and lead other communications professionals to deliver the highest standards.

Your experience in developing and executing communications strategy will be matched by excellent understanding of policy development. A wide experience of Public Affairs and Communications is essential, ideally in an education, research and/or regulatory environment.

Calm in a crisis, you will have excellent judgement and be highly collaborative, analytical and strategic, as well as aligned to our values. You will also have experience managing communication and brand in an international setting.
