Full-Time Global Compliance Investigations Lead
Job Description
To strengthen the Ethics and Compliance Team based in Smyrna, Georgia, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of Global Investigations Lead. This role will be based in Smyrna, Georgia or Brussels, Belgium.
This role will partner with geographies, Ethics & Compliance (E&C), Legal and Talent leadership to ensure internal E&C effectiveness & efficiency in conducting and reporting on investigations, including management of root cause analysis, corrective actions and disciplinary actions.

• Designing the investigations framework including governance and disciplinary matrix.
• Coordinating intake, assessment and conduct of investigations including documenting of planned CAPAs and associated outcomes.
• Providing analytics and reports on investigations.
• Supporting design of global solutions as subject matter expert when assigned.
You will contribute by:
Fully understanding Ethics & Compliance risk environment and its impact on the area, partnering with stakeholders to properly manage those risks:
• Maintaining knowledge of all industry codes, and in cooperation with Legal, and all applicable laws and regulations. Monitor and follow up of key developments that would impact the business.
• Managing all cases reported to UCB through the hotline, Ethics and Compliance, Talent and other mechanisms and conduct assessment of cases in collaboration with the E&C Regional Head and the relevant Talent Partner to determine categorization of incoming matters as incidents or investigations.
• Designing and conducting investigations in a thorough and efficient manner operating through established internal governance process.
• Ensuring that all investigations are effectively followed up including Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) and any necessary disciplinary action.
• Identifying and reporting, through the investigation processes, practices that create legal risk to mitigate organizational liability.
• Initiating analysis / reports / statistical data which may affect performance and/or related business initiatives.
• Actively participating in local industry trade association compliance (or related) committees, helping drive appropriate decision-making on key issues, integrating best practices and benchmarking into the overall approach.
Working with the relevant stakeholders to ensure Area/Affiliates maximize the effectiveness of the compliance program, ensuring that business leadership is committed to the highest ethical and compliance standards:
• Ensuring development, implementation, management, maintenance, continuous improvement and interpretation of investigations-related compliance-related policies, procedures, country specific requirements and practices.
• Working with relevant internal stakeholders, develop, implement, coordinate, and deliver awareness education, policies and procedures training, and other necessary training programs to internal and external business partners.
• Ensuring accountability is exercised through enforcement of our policies and applicable regulations; ensure allegation of misconduct are reported timely and discipline actions are implemented after investigations are done. Provide support during investigations as needed.
• Partnering with Area/Affiliate and Global Internal Audit (GIA) on audits, while maintaining full objectivity and independence from both parties.
• Ensuring ethics and compliance documents, records, and files are organized and maintained in an effective way.
Management of direct reports:
• Acting as a coach and mentor to develop Investigations Partners competencies.
• Providing guidance to Investigations Partners to ensure consistent E&C standards and counseling.
• Coordinating Investigations Partners to ensure highest quality deliverables.
Interested? For this position, you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry
• 5+ years of experience (direct or indirect – confronted and operated) in healthcare compliance
• Proficiency in Healthcare Compliance requirements including self-regulated industry codes
• Experience in a transnational and multicultural environment
• In-depth knowledge of federal and state laws governing employment and labor (Equal Employment Opportunity, Americans with Disabilities Act, National Labor Relations, etc.)
• Awareness of emerging HR compliance issues, internally and externally, and the implications to the company
• Previous experience in a HR investigations role
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree preferred
• Prior pharmaceutical industry and/or compliance experience preferred
