Job Description
- Gain experience and knowledge on projects found only at NCDOT.

- Increase your skills by working with NCDOT experts and our consultants.
- Perform basic geotechnical engineering analysis and design.
- Work closely with other NCDOT teams, especially NCDOT Division Offices, Construction, Structures Management, and Design-Build.
- Perform construction reviews and monitor/inspect for problems involving geotechnical items, such as slopes, walls, shallow or deep foundations during construction, and project maintenance phases.
- Review design recommendation reports prepared by in-house staff or consultants to ensure that the final products are correct and comply with NCDOT policies, manuals, and standard practices.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil and Geotechnical Engineering.
- Experience performing mathematically correct engineering designs and analysis.
- Experience communicating technical information clearly and effectively to various audiences.
- Bachelors degree in engineering; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.

We collect and analyze subsurface information and provide geotechnical engineering designs and recommendations for roadway slopes, embankments, and subgrades, and foundations of roadways and structures to ensure stability and cost-effective construction.We assist in the construction and maintenance of roadways and structures, investigate, and develop remediation plans for geotechnical/geoenvironmental problems.We investigate known and potentially contaminated properties to identify hazardous materials and provide removal instructions.We review geotechnical designs and construction submittals from private engineering firms and contractors and evaluates new products.And, we can use your talent!
