Full-Time General Manager

We want to make sure this person is the right fit for the new Grotto facility to carry on our vision for an inclusive and community-oriented gym! This position will start in November as a co-manager or assistant manager, and will eventually lead into the position of General Manager by December 2022, upon the opening of our brand new facility. Make your impact on the climbing community by being the first General Manager at Ontario’s newest (and one of its oldest) climbing gyms.
Initially, this job will work side-by-side with the current General Manager to train for the position and collaborate in policy making for the newest gym. Your efforts will create the foundations for our new gym and set a new standard for the Grotto regarding program offerings, diversifying, community outreach, and more!
The position may require the following tasks:
- Scheduling and adjusting shifts for all employees based on their preferences, helping create high staff morale.
- Answering emails regarding operations, retail, community outreach, etc.
- Create a marketing plan for future events and Grotto outreach.
- Coordinates and assists in the recruitment, hiring, training, coaching and disciplining of staff.
- Identify staff development and training needs, and recommends the allocation of training.
- Serve as an intermediary between employees, ownership, and other levels of management.
- Oversee the safety of staff and visitors and the public at large.
- Always maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner.
- Other tasks as they arise.
Salary will depend on the following traits/skills:
- 20-years-old or older, able to work full-time.
- Experience in schedule programming, preferably experience with community relations.
- Supervisor experience and training experience.
- Effectiveness in safety and productivity.
- Flexible schedule and being able to quickly shift priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to create, interpret, communicate, implement and enforce company policies and procedures.
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
- Ability to create and foster a familiar climbing community.
- Working knowledge of email and social media platforms
