Permanent Job: Fundraising Manager (South East Wales) / Rheolwr Codi Arian– De Ddwyrain Cymru

Pay: £30,000

Hours: 35 hours per week supported by flexible working.

Our general core staff working hours are 11am to 3pm and typically you can operate between 7am – 9pm. That means you’ve the opportunity around your fundraising duties to manage and blend your hours around our core times to fit in with your work and lifestyle commitments as well as the needs of the role.

Due to the nature of this fundraising manager role you’ll need to be flexible in spreading your weekly hours across the week so may need to be available for some evening or weekend work.  

Place of work: We love to see our people take advantage of working in our stylish Cardiff Head office as we promote collaborative working so encourage this as much as possible. We know how important flexibility is though so don’t set minimum weekly expectations but for this role we may ask you to work from our Head Office up to 4 times a month.

With a home & Cardiff Head Office work base your fundraising patch covers the South East Wales region. As a Fundraising Manager you can expect to travel across Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan, Monmouthshire, Torfaen, Newport, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynnon Taf, Blaenau Gwent and South Powys.

Fundraising Manager Job: Working with and being inspired by volunteers, corporate partners, individuals and groups as well as your colleagues when it comes to fundraising means you’re a vital part of our work. Above all you’re responsible for delivering financial income targets and making sure the fundraising experience is fun, fulfilling and rewarding for our supporters where they’re well looked after.

Our Fundraising Managers are our community ambassadors when it comes to supporting our fundraisers as they develop, achieve and engage with our work through their fundraising efforts. Working with inspiring supporters and  collaborating with colleagues it’s a fundraising manager job focusing on stewardship and growing relationships and income across a region in a fantastic Income Generation team that generates over £2.6 million a year.

You’ll be managing key calendar fundraising events like our Lovelight Christmas concerts, Singathon’s, a Breast Cancer Awareness Month Fashion Show, recruiting Challenge Event participants, developing a corporate pipeline and fostering our ‘Friends’ volunteer fundraising groups. And, there’s so much scope for us to do more as you’ll manage an already warm fundraising region that’s ripe for growth to smash your annual target of around £100,000.

This is a really fun and dynamic role. You’re guaranteed to meet lots of different people and see first-hand the difference the money you help to generate makes when it comes to cancer in Wales.

Your CV skills & experience should demonstrate how you’d be the best person to be our Fundraising Manager where:

  • You proactively find, develop and grow new business relationship opportunities to generate and sustain strong profit levels
  • You skilfully and safely manage several projects and events successfully when it comes to planning and organisation, engagement, profitability and quality
  • You’re proud to support and recognise others as well as your own achievements and are open to trying new ideas, building on feedback, developing ways of working and come up with your own ideas in your role
  • Your style of communication and way of working with others is proactive, adaptable and engaging, you inspire and encourage the best from others and welcome the strength and value that teamwork, diversity and inclusion and a working together attitude brings
  • You’ve shown you’re a natural relationship manager in the way you go about working with people to involve, encourage, and listen to bring fundraising ideas to life in a way that’s engaging, innovative, rewarding and recognises people’s contribution and success
  • You’ve a passion and drive for this type of work and thrive when delivering targets, getting the details right, running a well-planned and organised fundraiser or event.

What we’re looking for

It would be ideal if you can slide across into our Fundraising Manager job from within the Third Sector and demonstrate how you’ve engaged with volunteers and stewarded supporters already when it comes to leading a fundraising event.

But, we know this is a job where you might join us from another sector or transfer your skills from a different role. So, the skills that’ll see you through doing well as a Fundraising Manager are things such as inspiring leadership, relationship management, marketing, smashing targets, project planning, event management and strong interpersonal skills, as well as being a great planner with attention to detail.

You’ll also need to be creative and motivated in delivering increasing numbers, reaching for goals and be someone who’s confident in the way you go about speaking in front of various groups, presenting information and adapting your style to your audience.
