Location: 100% Remote from NH, MA, NY, PA or RI

Start Date: August 2023

Salary Range: $77,200-$82,200 (IISC uses a salary calculator to create equitable compensation offers, and therefore does not negotiate salaries)

Travel: 4-6 times per year 

Reports To: President

The Opportunity

The Fundraising & Grants Manager (FGM) is responsible for leading the overall strategy and execution of fundraising to resource IISC’s mission and work. This position successfully sets and meets mission-driven resource generation goals in a supportive and collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will be someone who is good at building and maintaining trust-based relationships, loves to plan, has excellent written and speaking skills, stays on top of the details while holding the big picture, and motivates others. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

70% – Grants Management & Donor Development 

  • Develop resource strategy for private and corporate foundation funding and other resources generated from the philanthropic sector
  • Identify, cultivate, and grow a robust pipeline of grant opportunities
  • Research, write, and present grant prospects to IISC’s President and other key stakeholders
  • Write, customize, and update compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, concept papers, grant reports, and funder communications 
  • Research and engage with new funding prospects and current supporters with IISC’s President, board members and other team members   

20% – Digital Fundraising & Individual Giving  

  • Develop and implement individual giving strategy for digital fundraising program and campaigns 
  • Liaise with communications team to generate online donations via portals including the IISC website and social media platforms, and external platforms  
  • Write copy for quarterly external organizational newsletter and campaign materials to encourage donations

10% – Organizational Administration and Support

  • Manage grant and reporting calendars in order to comply with all proposal and grant requirements; ensure fundraising information is updated in a timely manner in IISC’s customer relationship management (CRM) platform   
  • Define and improve documentation processes, procedures and policies for fundraising in collaboration with the Systems Manager
  • Standardize templates and language of all fundraising-related documents, including proposals, reports, and acknowledgements in collaboration with Communications Team
  • Support fundraising-related planning, events, and meetings, including: foundation/donor meetings, preparing briefings, securing sponsorships and underwriters for events

The Skills You’ll Need

Success in the Fundraising & Grants Manager role will require a deep commitment to the IISC’s  mission, vision and values. You believe – and your work has demonstrated – your belief that collaborative transformation comes from shifting and building power in ways that challenge the underlying drivers of inequity. 

The ideal candidate will also bring the following skills, attributes and experiences:

  • 4+ years of grant writing and donor research with proven history of writing and receiving major grants (over $100,000)
  • 3+ years of fundraising experience including corporate donor research, cultivation, and solicitation
  • A track record of existing relationships and building of relationships with staff and leaders at foundations
  • Exceptional writing skills—you’ll be able to translate impact into compelling and concise language that is reflective of our core values and direction. Strong editing and proofing capacity and ability to customize language to the audience as needed
  • Ability to track details and manage your time—you can create and maintain a system and flow for managing tasks and future follow-up
  • Proven ability to implement, learn quickly, work independently, and meet multiple deadlines
  • Strong commitment to racial equity, diversity, and inclusion values and practices
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite 

 Preferred (not required) Qualifications

  • Experience working remotely or in a hybrid work environment 
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Slack 
  • Familiarity with grants and donor prospecting tools
  • Established relationships with individual and/or corporate donors

The People

You will report to the President. The Fundraising & Grants Manager role will consistently work with the President and Executive Assistant/Project Coordinator on ensuring meticulous record keeping on timely communication with institutional funders and individual donors. This role will be the primary liaison with the Consulting and Training Team to gather impact and evaluation data for proposals and reports. In addition, serve as the primary liaison with the Finance Team and IISC’s Board on fundraising income forecasting and budgets. Meet staff and board members here.
