About the Bard Early Colleges
Through a tuition-free, engaging college program in the liberal arts and sciences with robust supports, the Bard Early Colleges help high school students, particularly those at risk of not completing postsecondary education, access, afford, and complete college prepared to contribute to the workforce and civic life. Students are taught by college faculty in seminar classes; they receive up to 60 college credits and an associate in arts (A.A.) degree from Bard College, concurrently with a high school diploma. The Bard Early Colleges begin preparing students for college work as early as the 9th grade and offer ongoing guidance and academic supports. Now in its second decade, the Bard Early College network serves over 3,000 students in five states in addition to Washington, D.C. Since 2003, Bard College has awarded more than 3,000 A.A. degrees to its early college students.
About the position
Bard High School Early College DC (Bard DC), a partnership between Bard College and District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), invites applications for full-time founding faculty positions in the Visual and/or Performing Arts, beginning August 2023. Bard DC seeks teaching artists able to teach a broad range of courses in studio arts, music, theater, or dance; ability to cover multiple fields is desirable.
Position Duties
For our founding faculty at Bard DC, we seek educators passionate about their fields of study and committed to advancing equity through rigorous curricula made accessible to students with varied academic preparation. The successful applicant must be committed to teaching classes at both the high school and college levels. In addition, candidates will be expected to participate fully in the life of the school, including student advising, club advising, and committee service. A graduate degree in the field and college teaching experience is required; high school teaching experience, and/or experience working with high school-age students is desirable.

Qualifications
- A./M.F.A. in visual or performing arts (required). Ph.D. preferred.
- Passion for your field of study and a commitment to advancing equity through rigorous curricula made accessible to students with varied academic backgrounds
- Experience and interest in working with high school-age students who are completing a college-level course of study is desired
- A strong commitment to equity and social justice and desire to open up opportunities for underrepresented students
