Full-Time Full Stack Engineer (Python / React) – Must be in UK
Job Description
We (a group of ~20 in 3 countries looking to disrupt the way products are engineered and made) are looking for a full-stack engineer to join our growing team. This new role would be focused on novel platform features, business logic, and db interactions, with the full support of a team of peer experts in UX, UI, and backend development.
The ideal candidate would find joy in transforming an idea into a working product. They would be able to ‘pick up’ a ‘run with’ simpler ideas, making sensible design decisions to deliver front-end java-script and back-end python implementation. They will also be mature enough to call and work with peer experts in UX, javascript, or db for chunkier or more complex features.
You will be able to read and write clear and well-structured javascript and python code. You will be able to spot gaps in the UI vs the data the API delivers, or notice where a feature needs more DB data, and maybe be able to draft where and how to retrieve it.
As a startup employee, you will be the point person on your topic of ‘getting the pieces lined up’, and make sure that new, and sometimes past, API endpoints, features, and UI behavior make sense, are reliable, and clear. As a ‘T-Shaped’ employee in an agile company, you will also be called on to decide when to just do it yourself, and when to call in a colleague to help if you are at the edge of your experience.
Must Have:
- Python 3.* experience (4+ year)
- Javascript + a modern SPA framework experience (4+ years)
- Familiarity with RESTful API design and implementation
- Experience in agile delivery of small features every <2 weeks
Bonus points for:
- Experience or interest in 3D printing and manufacturing
- Interest in UX, UI design, and user behavior
- Interest or experience in graphQL, or interest in leading on API design
Note: We may be small, but we take our commitment to a diverse workplace really seriously and measure our success rigorously. Diversity of thought, background and action makes us better so you would be doing us a favour by applying if you consider yourself from a diverse background even if you don’t quite hit all the requirements above. Maybe add a short note. And if you have any feedback about how we could change our outreach, positioning, or requirements to attract more diverse talent, we would be delighted to hear from you.
Please note:
Visa sponsorship may be available for the right candidate
Although primarily a remote position, the successful candidate will be expected to travel to the London office on a semi-regular basis (one day every 2 or 3 weeks).
No agencies please.
