Hotel Schloss Leopoldskron is a social enterprise owned and operated by the international nonprofit, Salzburg Global Seminar. Since our founding 1947, we have had a mission: “to challenge current and future leaders to shape a better world.” The hotel was opened in 2014 and all funds generated directly support Salzburg Global Seminar in our work to reduce social and economic inequality, advance racial and gender equity, promote good governance, and protect our climate to ensure the sustainability of human societies.

Position Description

The Front Office Manager is the department head responsible for the reception and the related procedures, processes, and services. The successful candidate actively works at the reception and is the contact person for our guests, customers, and service providers for all kinds of questions. The Front Office Manager accepts praise as readily as criticism and is also able to deal empathetically with guests in the event of complaints. Even in stressful situations, the Front Office Manager maintains an overview and an eye for detail. The position is responsible for leading the reception team, onboarding new employees, conducting training, and developing standard operating procedures to enhance the guest experience. The Front Office Manager is primarily based at the Meierhof, but operates throughout the property as well as the palace reporting directly to the Vice President, Hospitality.

Responsibilities

  • Management of the Front Office department which includes up to 10 employees
  • Personnel responsibility incl. hiring and training of new employees
  • Employee planning incl. duty schedule creation and coordination of the reception team
  • Implementation of internal trainings
  • Active cooperation and support in the reservation and event sales departments
  • Processing of inquiries and reservations
  • Ensuring a smooth daily business
  • Guest service and complaint management
  • Exchange and ongoing communication with other departments
  • Compliance with and further development of quality standards
  • Monthly accounting, inventories, and reports
  • Creation of and compliance with annual targets
  • Participation in meetings and discussions
  • Palace tours and other tasks as required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum three years of professional experience related to the hotel industry including management experience
  • Excellent German and English written and communication skills
  • A passion for tourisum, service-oriented leadership (can-do and hands-on mentality)
  • Customer and service-oriented way of working
  • A critical thinker, highly organized, and detail oriented
  • Good Windows knowledge, PROTEL knowledge is an advantage
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities
  • Pleasure in exceeding the expectations of our international clientele

Compensation

  • Salary starts at 2500 EUR per month before tax and is based on experience
  • Monthly salary paid 14 times per year (double in June and December)
  • A modest relocation package will be offered for candidates outside of Salzburg
  • Standard Austrian benefits include health insurance, pension contributions, sick pay, and 25 days of annual leave
