Summary of the Flow Chemistry Development Chemist role

As the Flow Chemistry Development Chemist you will be responsible for developing and demonstrating new flow chemistry processes in the laboratory and ensuring these can be run at a commercial scale.

Reporting directly to the Head of Technology & Innovation, you will be based at our site in Cramlington, you will work Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.

Your responsibilities

  • Developing and optimising flow chemistry processes.
  • Partnering with academic and industrial clients to mentor and improve understanding of flow chemistry.
  • Support scale-up, pilot, and commercial manufacture of flow processes.
  • Help R&D chemists understand continuous manufacturing processes and equipment and act as a technical expert within flow chemistry for the function.
  • Prepare interim and final reports and communicate as and when required with customers.

Requirements for the role

  • At minimum, must hold an honours degree in a relevant chemical field.
  • PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or chemical engineering is preferred.
  • Must be adaptable and comfortable with change.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential within this role.
  • Ability to use own initiative and comfortable working within a team or independently.
  • Knowledge and experience of troubleshooting issues beyond organic chemistry.
