Your opportunity at a glance

The WSLCB Finance Division is announcing an exciting opportunity for a Fiscal Analyst 2 (Taxes and Fees) at Olympia, WA. This position reports directly to the Spirit Fees Unit Supervisor in the WSLCB’s Finance Division. The position serves and complements the WSLCB’s mission and goals by performing professional financial review and analysis of accounting, auditing, and fiscal data in accordance with the General Accepted Accounting Principles, governmental auditing standards, statutes or regulations. In this position you will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing tax and fee reports monthly. You will also process daily cash for the Spirit Fee Unit. Additionally, you will monitor licensee missing reports and recommend accounts for suspension or enforcement actions.

Duties

Some of the duties you will perform are:

  • Analyze and enter monthly/quarterly reports and payments into the Tax and Fee Accounting Systems.
  • Verify and reconcile data entry into Tax and Fee Accounting Systems.
  • Process cash received for the Spirit Fee Unit.
  • Process incoming mail with no cash for Tax and Fee Accounting Units.
  • Assist with reviewing audit reports for accuracy and post to the Spirit Fees System.
  • Assist with reviewing correction reports for accuracy and post to the Spirit Fees System.
  • Assist with reviewing daily changes to the Tax and Fee Accounting Systems.
  • Review licensees with missing reports and notify them that they are out of compliance.
  • Update missing report/suspension tracking spreadsheet.
  • Provide recommendations of licensees that should be sent to suspension.
  • Monitor in-process reports and contact licensees as needed.
  • Backup for sending balance due notices to licensee.
  • Answer phone line for Tax and Fee Accounting Unit.
  • Respond to emails and correspondence regarding tax and fee reporting, on-line reporting, and general inquiries from internal and external customers.
  • Interpret rules and regulations related to Tax and Fee reporting and respond to inquiries.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Experience for required qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment and educational experience. See below for how you may qualify.

Option 1: 

Five (5) years of relevant professional experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, or finance. Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Word and Excel.

And 18 quarter or 12 semester hours credit hours in accounting, auditing, budgeting, or finance or a commitment to attain the required credit hours in 18 months.

Option 2:

An Associate’s degree in which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, budgeting, or finance or a commitment to attain the required credit hours in 18 months.

AND

Three (3) years of relevant professional experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, or finance. Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Word and Excel.

Option 3:

A Bachelor’s degree or above which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, budgeting, or finance or a commitment to attain the required credit hours in 18 months.

AND

One (1) year of relevant professional experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, or finance. Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Word and Excel.

Please note: A Master’s degree or above in accounting, finance, or related field which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, budgeting, or finance will substitute for the one year of experience above.

The following certifications may substitute for one year of experience:

  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Certified Internal Auditor
  • Certified Government Financial Manager
  • Certified Management Accountant
