Full-Time Firearms Analyst

Job Description

Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund (“Everytown for Gun Safety”) is the largest gun violence prevention organization in the country. Everytown for Gun Safety’s Investigations Team focuses on developing a deep understanding of the gun industry. To support this work, we are adding a new role: Firearms AnalystInvestigations.

The Firearms Analyst, Investigations will be a critical member of the Investigations team, reporting to the Senior Firearms Analyst. The position will support original research on the firearms industry, track new industry developments, and monitor gun manufacturers’ new product innovations, marketing and strategies. The Analyst should have a knowledge of and experience with firearms in order to serve as an expert resource for other teams. In addition, the candidate should have strong writing skills to draft articles and reports, and ideally should be comfortable helping develop digital and video content to share information with the public.

SCOPE OF WORK

  • Support Everytown’s Senior Firearms Analyst with expertise on firearms, including their history, uses, and mechanics, as well as trends within the gun industry
  • Research, develop, and create content for Everytown’s “Smoking Gun” website to shine a light on misconduct within the firearms industry
  • Support Everytown’s efforts to promote gun safety and responsible gun ownership, including secure storage and safe handling practices
  • Research and draft external-facing research reports relating to the firearm industry and the gun lobby

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of work experience preferred
  • Strong familiarity with firearms and the firearms industry
  • Strong writing and research skills. A background in journalism is a plus
  • A commitment to social justice, an interest in gun violence prevention, and a passion for Everytown’s mission of ending gun violence in America
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team and with other teammates
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and staff in a fast-moving environment and to deliver timely and high-quality work
  • Strong work ethic, sense of humor, flexibility, creativity, and a professional demeanor

LOCATION: Ability to work out of New York or D.C. office preferred, however we are open to the position being remote for the right candidate.

The salary range for this position is $70,000 – $75,000 a year. We offer benefits including health insurance, vision, and dental, paid time off, tuition reimbursement program and 401K program.
