Full-Time Financial Grant Coordinator (Staff Assistant 3)
Job Description
The City of Worcester seeks applicants for the position of Financial Grant Coordinator (Staff Assistant 3) for the Office of Administration and Finance. The position will manage the processing and maintenance of federal American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) grant transactions. The employee is responsible for recording of fund transactions, processing vendor and sub-recipient payments, preparing financial reports, reconciliations, documents, and other data and performing other duties as required following established methods and procedures.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of grant management or accounting common policies, practices, and procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce written correspondence
- Ability to track and analyze financial grant data to prepare detailed and accurate reports.
- Strong time management skills, prioritize tasks, stay organized, and be detailed orientated
- Ability to become knowledgeable in applicable Federal/State regulations, procurement & municipal budgeting standard operating practices as they pertain to grant and contract administration and other projects as assigned.
- Ability to work independently and to interact effectively with members of the public, local officials, and department personnel.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a detailed and organized manner, in a fast-paced office environment.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and set priorities for meeting deadlines
- Demonstrated computer proficiency; proficiency with electronic databases and with Microsoft Office Suite, with a minimum of moderate skill level in excel
- Ability to conceptualize and organize a project or grant program into manageable tasks
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; OR,
- An equivalent combination of education & experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the required duties of the position will be considered in lieu of the above-mentioned requirements.
- Experience in accounting, auditing, or financial management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three (3) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or financial management
- One (1) year of experience in municipal accounting / finance
- One (1) year of experience with financial grant administration
- Two (2) years of experience with creating, reviewing, and analyzing project financials and/or statistical reports.
SALARY RANGE: $28.59 – $34.85 hourly, full-time, with an excellent benefits package.
