Job Description

The role
The Financial Controller role is multifaceted. The post-holder will strengthen the organisation’s financial accounting and controls function to meet statutory obligations and optimise asset management. This includes leading the year-end financial process, managing audits, and coordinating accurate month-end reporting, with three direct reports. Additionally, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting investment strategy and driving the implementation of automation and new systems as necessary.

Key facts
- Full-time, permanent role.
- Starting salary: £70,000 – £78,000 per annum + benefits which include up to 8% employer pension contribution, life assurance, free ticket to Crufts, Healthcare cash plan and discounted gym membership.
- Hybrid: home working blended with 2 days per week in The Kennel Club’s London offices. Please note that the office is dog friendly and it’s common to have dogs around.
The successful candidate’s profile:
- Chartered accountant with minimum of 5 years PQE.
- Strong financial management experience, including sales and purchase ledger, credit control, treasury and month end.
- Strong statutory accounting experience, including annual report.
- Experience in delivering success audit outcome and working with external auditors.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge inc. current accounting standards for companies/charities (FRS 102/ Charities SORP).
- Experience of preparation of monthly financial accounts, year-end statutory accounts, and production of annual reports.
- Taxation experience (VAT inc. partial exemption, Corporation Tax, PAYE).
- Team management experience.
- Experience of working in a corporate setting.
