Job Description

JOB SUMMARY — Responsible for providing tax research and data analysis to support the transaction tax technical billing and tax assurance function. Key to the position will be that the person understands tax billing requirements, data dependencies and flows, and the overall compliance process. The person in this position will need to work successfully in a team environment and be able to deliver critical tax detail analysis in a timely manner. We are looking for candidates who are eager to learn and who are willing to venture into unfamiliar territory.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently support all efforts for tax assurance from customer billing through compliance
Responsible for documenting and researching compliance tax data variances
Validating current month tax rate/rule changes are being reflected billing data
Performing house geocode assignment audits for all company billing systems
Validating/testing and documenting all tax calculation engine configuration changes each month
Monthly validation of billing code configurations specific to tax in all billers
Support ad hoc reporting requests relevant to the monthly transaction tax data flow
Provide tax estimate support
Coordinate and communicate with various members of tax, accounting and billing departments
Compile and communicate detailed data in understandable summary format (written and verbal)
Provide research and prepare support documentation for sales and use tax audits

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Experience with SQL a plus
• Experience with various tax systems including tax engines (Vertex, Suretax)
• Ability to research and resolve technical tax issues
• Ability to analyze and interpret data
• Experience with efficient processing of large data sets and/or data investigation
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Able to proactively identify risks before they become problems
• Ability to work independently
• Knowledge of Telecommunications industry
