Senior Financial Analyst
The purpose of the BSS GPO is to strengthen controls and transparency of the Balance Sheet by enhancing the quality of the account reconciliation process with strong centralized governance and standardization of the substantiation process, performed in strategic sites, while leveraging best in class automation tools. The individual who fulfills this position will be expected to support initiatives for the BSS commitments related to the Core Capabilities.
The Balance Sheet Substantiation Global Process Owner’s (BSS GPO) group provides accounting guidance, control, support and governance for all Client business units related to reconciliation and substantiation processes. This position will support the BSS project lead in working with Senior Leadership across the organization and with the Core. Capability chapter owners to understand the requirements impacting BSS, and manage the scope and expectations of those requirements.
The position is accountable for the analysis of balance sheet accounts and the integrity of supporting reconciliations for the various business lines supported. The Individual will have full responsibility and accountability for understanding process flows, risk analysis/mitigation, and ensuring controls are in compliance with all internal guidelines/requirements. The individual must balance multiple initiatives and be able to respond to quickly changing priorities. Candidate will be heavily involved in analysis and should have the ability to “think outside the box” and help in effective decision making concerning financial reconciliations.
The ideal candidate will understand finance and accounting processes; exercise basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, internal accounting controls, etc.; candidate should be proactive and possess the ability to challenge existing processes and approaches and provide innovative suggestions that improve operational efficiency, effectiveness, internal controls, and/or customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
• Analyze complex financial data
• Identify key drivers/root cause contributing to reconciliation breaks and if break presents potential risk within the balance sheet
• Determine and initiate strategic solution in order to resolve issue identified
• Ensures compliance with established internal control procedures by examining records, reports, and documentation
• Communicate findings by preparing final report and discussing findings to project lead and Senior Management
• Providing updates to the project lead and escalating timely if progress is hindered
The minimum requirements for this position are as follows:
• Experience in Banking or Financial Services industry preferred
• Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Accounting,
• 3-5 years of relevant experience
• Well-developed analytical skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
• Communication skills including excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in MS Office with Advanced Excel skills
• Must be able to work independently with very little supervision and handle multiple projects simultaneously
