We are currently hiring for the positions of:
FESTIVAL PUBLICIST (7 POSITIONS)
Reporting to the Director, Communications, the Festival Publicist will help develop and execute tactical publicity plans for the Toronto International Film Festival film programmes and programmers, Festival juries, and awards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
(shall include but not limited to):
- The publicist will collaborate with local and international publicity teams, as well as maintain and enhance the Festival’s reputation with the media through strategic, proactive outreach
- Proactively generate Canadian and International press coverage across online, broadcast and print outlets for the Toronto International Film Festival Programming and Programmers, as assigned
- Utilize existing press relationships with members of the local, national and international press to secure positive coverage
- Responsible for publicist accreditation, tracking and maintaining database of attending publicists
- Circulate press releases, film assets, screeners and other press materials as required
- Secure coverage for films in lineup that do not have an assigned publicist
- Liaise with studio publicists and talent as necessary
- Service media queries in the Press Lounge during Festival and ensure you are easily accessible via email and phone
- Prepare accurate, thorough, and timely publicity report for internal and external stakeholders
- Provide support for films in assigned Programme that have smaller camera calls as needed
- Flag potential issues related to films/filmmakers, etc. in your programme and ensure updates are regularly shared with Senior Communications Managers and Director of Communications.
RATE OF PAY:
- $24.00 / Hourly
CONTRACT DATES:
- August 22, 2022 to September 19, 2022
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in public relations, communications, or related field and a minimum of 3-4 years media relations/publicity experience
- Publicity experience within the film / entertainment / visual arts is a strong asset
- Established relationships with local, national and international entertainment media outlets and journalists
- Strong knowledge of film is an asset
- Exemplary organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Superior communications skills, tact and diplomacy
- Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends
- Additional language(s) a definite asset
