Full-Time FE Engineering Teacher
Job Description
This role is employed by University of Derby but works in partnership with Rolls-Royce Submarines Ltd, therefore in order to undertake this position an individual must hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not currently already have this in place.
Due to the nature of work that Rolls-Royce Submarines Ltd conducts and the protection of certain assets a person must be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
About the role
We are looking to recruit engineering teachers (Instructor Mentor) to join the apprenticeship team at Buxton & Leek College part of the University of Derby. We welcome applications from candidates with engineering industry experience looking to start a career in teaching. You will be expected to teach on the EAL Level 3 courses, there are several different pathways which we offer as part of the Engineering Technicians Apprenticeship at Nuclear Skills Academy based in Derby.
We are looking for the following:
- General engineering pathway
- Electrical/Electronic pathway
The role of an Instructor/Mentor is to teach the Rolls Royce apprentices the practical skills needed, visit them onsite at the Ihub based in Derby and complete workplace reviews. You must also mentor apprentices to succeed and review their performance with them.
The successful candidate will need to hold a relevant teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one. We can offer support to those looking to start their careers in teaching, together with a Mechanical Engineering vocational qualification at Level 3 and Level 4 or higher. You should have demonstrable experience of the Engineering industry. If you have an assessor and/or verifier award this would also be considered.

Additional Information
This role is a full-time position of 37 hours a week, however we would welcome applications from candidates who wish to be considered for a job share. The role is required on a full -time basis therefore a job share could only be offered should a suitable arrangement be available with the days and/or hours of work to be agreed on appointment. Please indicate at interview stage your preference of days and/or hours you would be available to work.
