The Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Oregon State Hospital (OSH) has a career opportunity for a Facilities Maintenance Specialist in Salem, Oregon to provide routine maintenance repairs to all areas of the hospital. Facility service staff members provide technical assistance, subject matter expertise and support for projects and work requests using a customer centered approach.

What will you do?

As a Facilities Maintenance Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance repairs to hospital buildings and equipment.
  • Carry an emergency radio and respond to campus wide emergencies such as fires, broken pipes, flooding, elevator issues and broken windows.
  • Respond to plumbing emergencies, make repairs and install new fixtures.
  • Repair heating, air conditioning and ventilation equipment.
  • Repair hospital equipment such as tables, chairs, beds and other patient care items.
  • Determine the operating condition of machinery to prevent hazardous operations and injuries.
  • Perform carpentry and installation of wall items such as bulletin boards, cabinets, and shower curtain assemblies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

What are we looking for?

Minimum Requirements

Two years of experience in general building maintenance, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, painting, or plastering experience.

NOTE: A journeyman’s license/card in any of the above trades will substitute for this experience. Please attach a copy of your journeyman’s license/card to your application before submission.

Requested Skills

  • Experience working in a large healthcare facility performing general maintenance and repair duties in areas such as plumbing, carpentry, and electrical.
  • Ability to work in a secure environment where patient interaction my be required.
  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects.
  • Ability to work hours outside of or exceed regular work schedule which may include working overtime and double shifts.
  • Experience creating and maintaining a work environment that is respectful and accepting of diversity among team members and the people we serve.
