Job Description

About Our College: Situated in one of the world’s most beautiful regions – SUNY Plattsburgh’s main campus is on Lake Champlain between the Adirondack Mountains of New York and Green Mountains of Vermont. SUNY Plattsburgh is a vibrant, public, comprehensive college, and member of the State University of New York’s (SUNY) comprehensive system of higher education committed to student-centered academic excellence. While the college enrolls more than 5,200 students in 70+ baccalaureate, certificate, and master’s programs, an average class size of 22 students allows the individual attention necessary to ensure that its graduates are educated to succeed in an increasingly complex, multicultural and interdependent world.

About The Position: The division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion leads the campus community to make diversity, equity and inclusion a priority in the way college functions through support of intentional actions. As a division, we are committed to offering a range of programs, policies, and practices that engage with the unique range of human experiences each individual enriches our campus with. SUNY Plattsburgh is now host to one of 48 TRHT Campus Centers nationwide and the only SUNY campus to be selected. This position within the newly established TRHT Center will be responsible for the implementation of programming on campus that prepares the next generation of strategic thinkers to breakdown racial hierarchies. Working to inculcate the campus’ desire to evoke racial justice activism and address historical racial trauma, creating partnerships that cultivate a student-centered and trauma informed campus community, and overall management of DEI workgroups, projects, and processes that support and enhance racial healing is expected. As this is grant funded, this position is for 1 year with the possibility of renewal if ongoing funding is identified. As an institution that delivers challenging and high-quality educational experiences to a diverse group of learners, the successful candidate must demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity, inclusion, and equity-minded policies, programs, and practices.
