Position Title: Non-Profit Executive Director

Reports to: Board of Directors

Position Status: Full Time, exempt position

Salary Range: $65,000 – $70,000 includes $5,000 to help pay the costs of an individual health insurance plan

Art from Ashes (AfA) believes that creativity is innate and that every young person is a creative genius. In its 19 years, AfA has partnered with 192 youth-serving agencies & schools to provide interactive programs for more than 15,000 youth. Our programs provide a non-judgmental space with caring adults and community artists for youth to share their dreams, hopes, fears and pain through spoken word/poetry and other artistic mediums. Our workshops offer youth connection with their communities, expression, and transformation of their story as they connect to the power of their voice.

We are seeking an Executive Director to lead AfA into its 20th year, continuing our legacy of youth empowerment & our contribution to arts & culture in Colorado.

POSITION SUMMARY

The ED is responsible for providing strategic leadership of our programs, initiatives, & staff, ensuring the fulfillment of AfA’s mission and objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides leadership to teams, ensuring strong fiscal accountability and maintaining a culture of efficiency, productivity, flexibility, and accountability to the board and stakeholders.
  • Develops a diverse team of staff and volunteers who reflect the community they serve and support the organization’s values.
  • Ability to create and manage AfA’s strategic plans, including budgeting.
  • Works closely with the AfA board to execute strategy, identify opportunities, address issues, and develop recommendations to further the organization’s impact.
  • Oversee agency Programs, Operations, Communications and Fun Development Committees.
  • Supply enthusiastic leadership of youth advocacy, showing compassion, patience, and support for constituents. Seek out and address barriers to diverse populations accessing the organization’s programs.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Strategic mindset with demonstrated experience in supporting long-range strategic planning, creating and managing a budget, and empowering staff to achieve goals.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong work ethic, able to succeed in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment
  • An ability to lead an organizational culture of Diversity, Inclusivity, Equity, Access, and Anti-Racism with a vision to continually learn and evolve.
  • Proactive leader that mirrors accountability of self and is comfortable holding others accountable.
  • Collaborative leadership approach and ability to successfully engage different workstyles.
  • Strong written and spoken communication, with engaging public speaking skills.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE

  • Understanding of program management.
  • Communications experience speaking to media and diverse audiences.
  • Established relationships with local community and partner organizations.
  • Fundraising experience and excellent donor relation skills.
  • Experience working in youth focused organizations, mental health fields or social work or a related field.

LOCATIONS, WORK ENVIRONMENT, & AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • The Art from Ashes facility is located in Denver, CO. The position will require travel to area schools & partner facilities to support workshops & programs, & to participate in community events & fundraisers.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to participate in day, evening, & weekend events as required.
  • The physical demands described for this position are that of a typical office environment.

BENEFITS

This position is eligible for:

  • Paid Time Off: Paid leave is accrued at the rate of 2.5 hours per bi-weekly paycheck. After the first year of employment, hours are accumulated at the rate of 4.5 hours per bi-weekly paycheck, and one time 10 hour paid leave bonus is given.
  • The salary range of $65,000 – $70,000 includes $5,000 to help pay the costs of an individual health insurance plan.
  • 56 Hours of Paid Holidays which includes a floating holiday
  • Flex time
