Founded by space entrepreneur Dylan Taylor in 2017, Space for Humanity is expanding access to space for all of humanity. The nonprofit created the planet’s first Sponsored Citizen Astronaut Program, giving leaders, from any walk of life, the opportunity to apply to go to space and experience the Overview Effect: the cognitive shift in awareness that occurs when a human being looks down on the Earth from space.

Role Overview
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) has the overall strategic and operational responsibility for S4H’s staff, programs, volunteers, expansion, and execution of its mission. They will develop deep knowledge of the commercial space industry, S4H’s core programs, daily operations, budgets, and fundraising.
Role Responsibilities
- Execute S4H’s overall strategic plan and work with the Board of Directors to create and implement a rolling 12-month operating plan and budget.
- Manage back office functions, ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations.
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors and pro-bono contacts to ensure best-in-class services and 100% legal compliance.
- Lead fundraising efforts, including grant-writing, 501(c)(3) filings and IRS reporting, and fund-receiving compliance.
- Lead PR and marketing efforts, including drafting press releases and social media posts.
- Organize and lead two yearly Vision Circle events for Vision Circle Members, ongoingly building Vision Circle.
- Perform other related duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience.
- Degree, additional education, or hands-on experience surrounding nonprofit management and leadership.
- Positive track record of effectively leading a regionally and/or nationally scaling program-based organization.
- Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop creative industry aligned collaborative teams.
- Successful track record of setting and achieving strategic objectives.
- Ability to work with stakeholders to create and manage a multi-year budget.
- Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing Board Member relationships.
- Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide-range of international stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
- Champion of Equity, Inclusion, Diversity, and Accessibility initiatives within nonprofit organizations and programs.
- Passion for learning about space exploration development, impact-driven programming, and inclusion of traditionally marginalized communities into the space industry.
- Deep understanding and passion for the S4H Mission.
Compensation Range: $90-$150,000 USD
Note: This role is fully remote. However, it requires the individual to reside and be able to work full time in the United States.
