USA Cycling is the national governing body for the sport of cycling and oversees the disciplines of road, track, mountain bike, cyclocross and BMX. With a mission to develop the sport of cycling in the United States and to achieve sustained international racing success. USA Cycling supports cyclists at all levels, from those just beginning their personal journey in the sport as enthusiasts to seasoned professionals. The organization not only identifies, develops, and selects cyclists to represent the United States in international competition, but also supports amateur bike racing through grassroots development programs and the provision of critical infrastructure to run organized racing. As the Events Marketing Lead for USA Cycling, you will be part of the team that executes and markets the USA Cycling brand and communication to its constituents.
Core Responsibilities:
Communications
- Create press releases, media advisories and media reference documents to create greater exposure, across endemic and non-endemic publications, around Event Services for National Championships, National Calendars, partner events, DEI initiatives, and membership programs.
- Create content (features) to showcase and support the National Championships, National Calendar events, partner events, DEI initiatives, and membership programs.
- Integrated role managing direct communication between Event Services team and membership.
- Project management for Event Services/Operations event and calendar communication.
- Direct response to media inquiries for USA Cycling National Championships, National Calendar, USA Cycling Staff and other parties related to the sport of cycling.
- Closely monitoring public reaction, sentiment and conversation related to USA Cycling social media channels.
- Onsite media operations for select National Championships throughout the year.
- Identify and manage event photography and videography vendors for National Championships, and other domestic competitions.
Marketing
- Create engaging marketing campaigns to promote and support events ranging from grassroots, DEI initiatives and National Championships.
- Original content creation and marketing for National Championships, National Calendars, partner events, DEI initiatives, and membership programs around the concept of We Champion™.
- Manage, create and distribute USA Cycling event and National Championship newsletter.
- Develop and execute digital content, ensuring adherence to brand guidelines and OGSP vision.
- Meet with external vendors (including fulfillment and creative agencies) to ensure National Championships, National Calendars, partner events, DEI initiatives, and membership programs branding is to standard.
- Design marketing calendar for all strategies, tactics, and communications on behalf of National Events/Event Services team.
- Maintain National Championship, Event Services, Officials, DEI, and National Calendar website content across usacycling.org to ensure accuracy, efficiency and overall alignment with the product communication strategy.
- Subject matter expert working with cross functional teams to activate National Events/Event Services team strategy
- Internal presentation of reports and/or projects from the Commercial Team in selected meetings to support National Events/Event Services groups.
- Lead efforts in social media promotion of the USA Cycling National Events/Event Services programs and campaigns aligned with the We Champion™ branding.
- Develop and oversee social content topics around National Championships, National Calendars, DEI and grassroots/partner events
- Work within the DEI Task Force to identify opportunities to highlight and elevate diverse influencers within the cycling community.
- Create content and execute paid social media campaigns
- Develop engaging content for Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Strava, YouTube, and LinkedIn in conjunction with other members of the National Events/Event Services Team.
- Keep aware of trends within the larger cycling ecosystem to leverage increased audience engagement within identified and strategic audiences.
- Closely monitor public reaction and conversations related to USA Cycling.
- Respond to cycling community communication on social media channels where appropriate or escalate user comments for response by customer service team where necessary.
- Track and monitor post and campaign engagement and effectiveness.
- Perform these and other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Generally requires 2-3 years of Marketing or Communications experience
- Social media work background including the creation of organic posts to drive audience engagement
- Proven success utilizing various social media platforms designed around marketing promotions
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment, with the ability to navigate high-stress situations and keep composure
- Clear, concise, professional verbal and written communication skills
- Experienced in using multiple social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram and Strava
- Experience managing basic website content

Travel:
- 20-30%
- Domestic travel is currently restricted to trips considered mission critical to USA Cycling. We encourage all staff to review CDC and state public health webpages for policies and recommendations relevant to the area they will be traveling to.
Compensation and Benefits:
- This is a full-time exempt position that is offering a 100% remote work environment.
- Base salary range for this position is $40,500 annually.
