What you will do
The Event Operations Coordinator is an organized individual with a strong skill set in project management and a passion for events and community organizing. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the events industry, familiarity with event production processes, and an understanding of the work required to execute an annual global summit with 10,000 participants and 450+ sessions.

The ideal candidate is a strong collaborator with the ability to work across regions, teams, and issue areas. Most importantly, they have a finely-tuned attention to detail, a commitment to excellence, a strong sense of team spirit, and the ability to drive and manage multiple projects at once. The Event Operations Coordinator reports through the Platform and Production Manager but works closely with all members of the RightsCon team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Support the project management of event production, including coordinating with contractors, preparing weekly agendas, monitoring timelines, reviewing deliverables, and disseminating updates to the team;
• Coordinate the development of the RightsCon event platform for key stages, including platform open and event launch;
• Arrange event platform walk-through(s) for staff and the Access Now Operations team;
• Act as representative of the platform and production team in select community calls;
• Support the planning and technical moderation of online external and internal training sessions;
• Provide production and operations input into community communications, guides, and trainings;
• Support the coordination, planning, and execution of high production programming rehearsals;
• Lead quality assurance reviews of the event platform design and content at key stages, especially in advance of the event launch;
• Create and execute a plan for daily updates to the event platform during the week of RightsCon;
• In partnership with contractors, oversee and escalate the production of community programming blocks during the week of RightsCon;
• Coordinate with the communications team to ensure access, file transfers, and ease of use of archived summit content.

Skills, education, and mindset you will bring
• 3+ years of experience working on event operations or project management
• Experience working with contractors and service providers
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
• Familiarity with project management tools, like Trello or Asana
• Passion for advancing human rights in the digital age and dedication to the Access Now mission
• Excitement about continuous learning, trying new things, and being a member of a collaborative team
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments, respond quickly to breaking news items, and effectively balance competing priorities

The Details

Location
This is an 6-month contract, with possibility of extension, ideally based in either Berlin, Brussels, New York City, San José (CR), Toronto (CAN), Tunis, or Washington, DC, with some flexibility for remote work locations. At this time most Access Now Team Members are working through hybrid office arrangements, combining remote at-home work with intermittent use of offices and/or co-working spaces. The successful candidate must possess the right to work in the location in which they will be based. We are unable to sponsor visas or relocations for this role.

Remuneration
Access Now offers competitive compensation in line with skills and experience, and that aligns with our office localities. Initial placement within the salary range for this role is anticipated between $5,800-$6,250 USD gross monthly, and will be determined by depth of experience and preparation.
