Job Description
ESOL Evening Instructor (Currently Remote due to COVID-19)
Part-time: 10 Hours per week
SUMMARY
The ESOL evening instructor will teach one ESOL course in our Education Services program.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lesson plan, teach and grade assignments for 1 evening ESOL course (4 contact hours/week) each semester in accordance with Rian curriculum guidelines
- This class will meet from 6-8 p.m. either on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday
- Administer standardized ESOL assessments at the beginning and end of semester
- Record ESOL class and conversation group attendance
- Enter student education data in Salesforce
- Participate in education program meetings
- Work collaboratively with Director of Education and other staff to refer students as needed between programs
QUALIFICATIONS
- Commitment to the overall mission and values of Rian
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching ESOL to adults in a community-based setting
- Good leadership, communication, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and work well both independently and in a team environment
- Proficiency with Google Suite as well as online teaching/learning platforms
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with the highest level of discretion
- BA degree in education, language or related field, required
- MA or certification in adult TESOL, preferred
- Proficiency in a language other than English, (especially Spanish, French or Haitian Creole) preferred
