Job Description
Salary: £27,000 – £32,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: Hamble (hybrid working) or Home Based

Are you passionate about creating a more inclusive and equitable culture? Have you successfully implemented diversity and inclusion initiatives? The RYA is seeking an experienced and collaborative Equality, Diversity & Inclusive Officer to help develop and deliver an effective outreach and education programme that creates positive, sustainable impact for our organisation and wider boating network. This is a new and exciting role promoting, RYA’s EDI agenda, influencing colleagues and volunteers to live by RYA values and achieve ‘Together on Water’ – our vision of sailing and boating as a connected, inspired and inclusive community. You will help identify measures of progress and impact and find opportunities for deeper engagement – celebrating diversity in action, recognising positive change while supporting ways to address poor behaviour and share learnings.
Your responsibilities as EDI Officer – Outreach and Impact will include, but are not limited to:
- Create and deliver bespoke EDI training across the RYA network to influence cultural change.
- In collaboration with the Regional Development Officers, be the community engagement lead for EDI through the network of RYA affiliates.
- In support of the communications team, identify and create appropriate content for various RYA channels.
- Work to influence and connect with the wider boating and marine industry collaborating on EDI initiatives to maximise impact.
- Monitoring, recording and evaluation of data and processes to allow for continuous improvement, ensuring that confidentiality is maintained, in line with the Data Protection, Freedom of Information and other legislation.
- Identify coaching and mentoring opportunities to utilise own experience, skills and expertise to upskill team and community colleagues.
