Eastern Iowa Community Colleges is seeking a full-time Equal Opportunity & Diversity Manager. This is a contracted position serving the district.

Position Summary:
The Equal Opportunity & Diversity Manager leads the development and implementation of proactive diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and strategies as a champion of EICC’s culture in accordance with our core values. This position works collaboratively with all areas of the college to create a campus culture which educates and empowers each office and employee to understand their role in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. This position will also be responsible to conduct investigations of complaints, train and advise EICC staff and faculty on Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)/Diversity topics, and implement EEO/Diversity programs and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience working in an EEO/Diversity focused position or a position with a significant amount of accountability for EEO/Diversity efforts and initiatives. Master’s degree preferred.
- Knowledge of pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending.
- Ability to be a collaborator and a convener, to work judiciously and diplomatically, with the capacity to build bridges and consensus.
- Must have ability to exercise independent judgment and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in data analysis and decision making.
- Experience planning and conducting professional development and training.
- Record of familiarity with the impact of diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Experience in presenting, writing about, leading, and/or discussing controversial topics or conflict in a way that results in productive discussion and meaningful outcomes.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct investigations and present findings to Director of Human Resources for informal and formal complaints of unlawful discrimination.
- Promote diversity discussion at various levels of the organization and help diversity committee to work actively and achieve its laid-out objectives.
- Researches, develops, recommends, and executes creative strategies to foster EICC’s diversity goals.
- Reviews current practices and policies, assessing and analyzing the extent to which they support or hinder the EICC’s diversity goals.
- Serve as the Title IX liaison working with the Deans of Student Development and College Presidents to foster an environment in which all members of the college community are safe from sexual misconduct in any form.
- Work collaboratively with and serve as oversight of the Diversity Council.
- Drafts and implements recruiting and hiring strategies to attract employees from diverse backgrounds.
- Develops and/or acquires training and development to aid diversity and retention initiatives.
- Acts as a liaison with government agencies concerning affirmative action and equal employment opportunities.
- Maintains knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
- Provides training and policy updates to colleagues, ensuring legal compliance of management and human resources staff.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and EICC policies.
- Assumes responsibility for up-to-date information on the computer personnel files.
- Is committed to providing quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of internal and external customers.
- Responsible for maintaining expert knowledge of EICC policies, practices and procedures.
- Prepare & maintain reports, records, and other files.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
