Full-Time Environmental Program Supervisor II
Job Description
- Supervise 3 M&M staff.
- Oversee the daily staff duties, scheduling, training, and assignments of these employees and assist the Group Leader in process improvements and innovation.
- Provide oversight of staff responsible for State Transportation Improvement (STIP) project impact projections, unmanned autonomous vehicle (UAV) environmental analysis, GIS layer development, outsourcing contracts, and invoicing.
- Coordinate efforts and procedures with multiple and diverse NCDOT teams and other agencies.
- Deliver wetland prediction models.
- Coordinate with NCDWR Headwater Stream Mapping Program for stream prediction models.
- Provide oversight of the continued enhancement and implementation of the ATLAS Search, Screen, and Workbench applications.
- Use your understanding of project management and technical staff processes to identify GIS needs and develop tools to assist in daily workflow.
- Work on special projects to support project delivery for the M&M Group.
- Use your computer skills in ESRI ArcGIS Software, including ArcCatalog, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, or other web mapping services, Trimble GPS units, and associated software.
- Apply your solid understanding of the Clean Water Act, 404 and 401 permitting, NEPA, and the Federal Mitigation Rule and how they relate to transportation projects.
- Computer knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Software including ArcCatalog, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, or other web mapping services, Trimble GPS units, and associated software.
- Knowledge of the principles of natural science, environmental science, geography, geographic information systems, statistics, or modeling as they apply to transportation planning and environmental assessment.
- Experience in ATLAS development and tools, environmental modeling – including basic statistical analysis, and development of spatial layers for use in predictive modeling.
- Project management experience in planning and coordinating work, managing project schedules, deliverables, and evaluating and reviewing work done by others, including supervising consultants, to solve problems, resolve conflicts and apply critical thinking to complex environmental issues.
- Experience in application of federal/state environmental laws/regulatory requirements – NEPA/SEPA, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act.
- Bachelor’s degree in agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences, or a closely related curriculum, and
- 5+ years of relevant environmental experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
