Full-Time Enhanced Support and Access Team Senior Practitioner

We have an exciting opportunity for someone looking for professional development supporting the mobilisation and delivery of a brand-new service providing support to the travelling community in Essex. Working in close partnership with the existing Essex Countywide Travellers’ Unit (ECTU), the service will forge positive relationships within the travelling community alongside key partners and stake holders with the aim of reducing health inequalities, improving outcomes and access to services.
The Role
As one of two senior practitioners you will support the day to day running of a highly performing service that makes a tangible difference to the lives of those it works with. You will work alongside the service manager to develop an evidence-based service aimed at empowering people within the travelling community to access a wide range of support and sustain positive change. This will include oversight of two practitioners, holding a small caseload, as well as responsibility for data and recording in your areas and being able to report on its successes to the service manager and commissioners at performance monitoring meetings.
Each senior practitioner will cover two designated parts of the County (North and Mid or South and West Essex) and the role will be based in one of our existing offices in the Chelmsford, Colchester, Basildon or Harlow areas. There can be flexibility around the location, but travel will be required across all areas to ensure effective service delivery.
The Service
The service will cover the County of Essex (excluding Southend and Thurrock) and will work in partnership with the ECTU to provide enhanced support to individuals and their families from the Gypsy, Roma and Travelling communities in Essex across a range of needs (including substance misuse, physical and/or mental health needs, housing, education and employment). The service will provide broad and flexible outreach, advocacy, signposting and onward referrals (to include accompanying people to appointments) and forge strong links with local partners and services to form a multi-disciplinary network of support.
Previous experience in the field is desirable but not essential. We are seeking dedicated individuals, based on your values, willingness to learn new skills and the compassion to deliver the best service possible to the people that use our services
About you
To join us a senior practitioner you will need:
- Experience of working in a health and social care (or comparable field) and an understanding of the complex issues presented by people who use the service
- Evidence of effective partnership working and the ability to network for the benefit of the client and service
- Experience of managing a caseload and excellent organisational skills
- To be proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook and Word and be familiar with database management systems
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Determined, with a drive to succeed and a willingness to learn
- Passionate and enthusiastic about making a real difference to the lives of people we support
