Engineering Technician II
Job Description
- Serve as the first point of contact for external customers and employees of NCDOT requesting user access to NCDOT’s Encroachment permitting portal.
- Interface with customers and employees for user access.
- Monitor and track the Encroachment permitting portal for encroachments submitted to the Utilities Unit from all District Engineer offices statewide.
- Facilitate, track, and provide access to encroachment related documents managed by the Encroachments Section.
- Assist the Encroachments Section in data management, GIS mapping, and reporting used in the Encroachments portal and related documents.
- Knowledge in updating, maintaining, and exporting data stored in spreadsheets, databases, SharePoint Applications, GIS/apps and web browsers.
- Experience performing duties that require attention to detail, analytical thinking, and prioritization.
- Experience in conveying moderately complex technical information to employees, external customers, and management.
- Demonstrated ability in providing timely customer service and effective interactions to internal and external customers.
- Knowledge in interpreting engineering plans and utilizing civil engineering principals in relation to the construction or design of roads, utilities or non-utilities found in the right of way.
- Associates Degree in Civil Engineering, Survey Technology, or a related discipline, and
- 2+ years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
