Full-Time Engineering Technician – Entry Level!
Job Description
- Work with counties, municipalities, developers, property owners, contractors, and field support as the permitting technician to establish compliance with engineering standards and guidelines.
- Review plans for subdivisions, utility installations, driveway access, and roadway improvements.
- Process permits, including driveway, utility and non-utility encroachment agreements, road additions and abandonments, and other records and reports.
- Interact with local government agencies, utility representatives, contractors, property owners, and others to discuss adherence to policies and procedures.
- Respond to questions and address complaints from the public by phone, written correspondence, and in person.
- Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.
- You work best in a team environment to complete assignments.
- Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
- Knowledge of standards and specifications and plan reading experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and/or construction surveying.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive lines of communication between other technicians, engineers, contractors, and the public. Skills to communicate in a clear, concise, organized, and persuasive manner.
- Ability to work safely in an outside environment with exposure to hazards on construction sites including heights, highway traffic, and traversing rough terrain in evaluating highway construction.
- Strength and agility to perform moderate physical activity including but not limited to walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, standing, and to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to work nights and weekends when required.
- Ability to apply safety philosophy and program to all operations.
- Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
- You do not have to have a degree to qualify for this position.
