NEW HIGHER PAY: $50,466 – $55,385
The Challenge
We are hiring an Entry-Level Engineering Technician to join our award-winning Henderson county team.
In this role, you will:
    • Work with counties, municipalities, developers, property owners, contractors, and field support as the permitting technician to establish compliance with engineering standards and guidelines.
    • Review plans for subdivisions, utility installations, driveway access, and roadway improvements.
    • Process permits, including driveway, utility and non-utility encroachment agreements, road additions and abandonments, and other records and reports.
    • Interact with local government agencies, utility representatives, contractors, property owners, and others to discuss adherence to policies and procedures.
    • Respond to questions and address complaints from the public by phone, written correspondence, and in person.
What You Bring
    • Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.
    • You work best in a team environment to complete assignments.
    • Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
    • Knowledge of standards and specifications and plan reading experience.
    • Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and/or construction surveying.
    • Ability to establish and maintain positive lines of communication between other technicians, engineers, contractors, and the public. Skills to communicate in a clear, concise, organized, and persuasive manner.
    • Ability to work safely in an outside environment with exposure to hazards on construction sites including heights, highway traffic, and traversing rough terrain in evaluating highway construction.
    • Strength and agility to perform moderate physical activity including but not limited to walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, standing, and to lift 50 pounds.
    • Ability to work nights and weekends when required.
    • Ability to apply safety philosophy and program to all operations.
Education & Experience
    • Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
