The Challenge
We’re looking for an entry-level Engineering Technician to join our Forsyth County Roadside Environmental team.
In this role, you will:
    • Ensure mowing, litter removal, and vegetation management contracts are correctly prepared and administered.
    • Provide technical guidance to our Roadside Environmental Unit crews to ensure successful delivery of the work plans
    • Provide prompt responses to maintenance needs.
    • Serve as a contract administrator for mowing, litter removal, and fully-operated rental contracts.
    • Perform office work using Microsoft Office.
    • Make sure contractor’s invoices are correct, contracts are kept up to date, and any other duties.
    • Safely operate a motor vehicle with a Class A CDL with Tanker (N) endorsement.
What You Bring
    • Familiarization with reading plans, contract specifications, applicable standards, and performing inspections.
    • Landscape/gardening experience in areas such as mowing, guardrail trimming, tree removal, and plant bed maintenance.
    • Experience interacting with contractors and public.
    • Experience reading highway/landscape construction plans.
    • Computer skills in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel).
    • Great ability to work in a team environment.
    • Agility to  work, climb, bend, walk, and operate equipment on uneven surfaces and slopes.
    • Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement. (Note: If you don’t have this, still apply!  You can get it through our on the job training program within 360 days of hire.)
    • Safety toe shoes.
Education & Experience
    • Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
Notes
    • You will be exposed to all types of weather conditions.
    • You will be subject to emergency call backs, scheduled night work, and work during adverse weather/extreme circumstances.
