Full-Time Engineer II – Project Management – 2 Openings!
Job Description
- Manage day-to-day activities/tasks to lead multi-disciplinary teams delivering preconstruction projects to construction. This includes project development, environmental analysis, planning, and design.
- Serve as Deputy Project Manager and assist with portfolio management of centrally-managed State Transportation Improvement (STIP) Projects during the pre-construction phase to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, in scope, and within budget.
- Support Project Managers in providing team oversight when preparing environmental studies/environmental documentation, engineering studies, design products, special provisions, quantities, final plans, and contract documents.
- Track project changes, maintain project schedules and milestones, identify risks and opportunities, and mitigation strategies.
- Assist Project Managers to ensure that products meet quality expectations.
- Communicate with team members to expedite critical task completion, document environmental decisions, complete designs, and ensure deliverables produced are in compliance with all federal and state laws, rules, regulatory actions, policies and procedures, and requests technical deviations and exceptions to advance projects.
- Assist Project Managers in analyzing environmental data/design information to provide oversight to private engineering firms (PEF), administering PEF contracts, reviewing and processing invoices, making recommendations to the Senior Project Manager, and providing consultant performance feedback.
- Transportation project development experience related to scope, schedule, budget, quality control, and/or risk management.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of engineering and environmental analysis concepts, practices, and theories used in project development/construction engineering of transportation facilities.
- Experience working with private engineering firms for review of submittals, studies, and designs.
- Experience organizing resources, project development, scheduling, and coordinating work to maintain schedules.
- Communications skills to convey moderately-complex environmental/engineering concepts and related facts in a clear, organized manner to internal and external stakeholders.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
- Bachelors Degree in engineering, and
- 3+ years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
