Job Description
- Manage a portfolio of centrally-managed STIP projects with low to moderate complexity during the pre-construction phase.
- Execute day-to-day activities and tasks on complex projects with assistance from the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager.
- Track and report on assigned tasks to the Project Manager and the Senior Project Manager.
- Develop project schedules, ensuring that work is completed with projects remaining in scope, on time, and within budget.
- Maintain project milestones while tracking changes and decisions and identifying risks and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure deliverables produced are following all federal and state laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Provide technical guidance to private engineering firms (PEF) on design matters.
- Administer PEF contracts and participate in consultant selection.
- Provide scopes of service and cost estimates.
- Review progress reports.
- Check invoices for accuracy/completeness.
- Provide performance feedback and make recommendations to the Senior Project Manager.
- Experience managing a project team to deliver transportation projects.
- Knowledge of professional engineering principles and practices of civil engineering as related to Highway Design, emphasizing project planning, project design, and construction and maintenance methods.
- Knowledge of and experience in scoping, estimating, and negotiating Professional Engineering contracts.
- Ability to set priorities, develop work schedules, monitor goal progress, and track details/data/information/activities.
- Demonstrated ability expressing moderately complex engineering concepts and related facts to internal and external customers.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
- Bachelors Degree in engineering, and
- 3+ years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
