Job Summary:

United Way of King County is seeking 6 energetic and talented individuals to join a highly focused and successful Development Team for the 2023 Annual Campaign that runs September – December. Each year we hire a seasonal cohort of Engagement Coordinators to help raise money throughout King County to support our mission of working towards a racially just community where people have homes, students graduate, and families are financially stable.

 

The Engagement Coordinator cohort provides fundamental fundraising strategies, volunteer support, and donor cultivation skills to assist local companies in running successful workplace giving campaigns. In partnership with UWKC staff, the Engagement Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and executing workplace campaign logistics in an assigned account portfolio including: obtaining updated company giving information, facilitating presentations, scheduling speakers, and delivering marketing materials. Comprehensive training is provided upon hiring to ensure success in this position.

 

The Engagement Coordinator position provides an opportunity to grow personally and professionally, specifically in a nonprofit setting. This is an opportunity to: develop and hone significant skills in fundraising/development, customer service, public speaking, project management, and relationship building; gain valuable contacts and community knowledge; learn community centric fundraising strategies and be part of a positive and supportive team dedicated to racial equity. No fundraising experience is required for this role, just an excitement to learn!

 

This is a seasonal full-time position from 9/7/2023 – 12/14/2023 with compensation of $26.00 per hour. These positions are open until filled; first consideration will be given to applications received within two weeks of posting.

Essential Duties

 

  • Attend mandatory orientation and ongoing training sessions.
  • Implement workplace fundraising campaign strategies.
  • Serve as a project manager on tasks and projects in portfolios assigned to you, representing United Way of King County.
  • Facilitate virtual and in person presentations to large and small groups of employees at campaign kick-offs.
  • Educate company employees and volunteers on the value of giving to United Way to address health and human services issues, including the effects of racial inequities in our community.
  • Fundraise and ask for employee and corporate contributions.
  • Work closely with Engagement Coordinator team to accomplish campaign goals.
  • Collaborate with campaign lead to plan and execute internal campaign for United Way of King County employees.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of account progress in fundraising database (Mission CRM).
  • Support Annual Fund donor stewardship.
  • Travel locally as needed for the role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Demonstrated understanding of social and racial justice and equity, with a proven commitment to apply racial and economic justice lenses in both personal and workplace contexts.
  • Lived experience and/or demonstrated professional skills working within a diverse work environment.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and follow-through skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, with effective time and project management skills.
  • Excellent customer service and relationship building skills.
  • Intermediate computer literacy skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual presentations.
  • Proven ability to utilize a fundraising database and document key milestones.
  • Fundraising, development and/or sales experience appreciated.

Education and/or Experience:

 

The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent fundraising, sales or lived experience may be substituted for the education requirement.
