Job Description

If your answer is “absolutely”, then this is the  career opportunity for you!  As an Employment Navigator for the BFET and CareerWork$ BankWork$ Programs you will be assisting job seekers and employers with state of the art  employment preparation, career navigation, job placement and retention support to several of our training programs. This position will also be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with bank recruiters and hiring personnel. Secondary responsibilities include working with the Work$ team to recruit, evaluate and screen candidates for program enrollment and assisting student’s in identifying strengths and overcoming barriers to successful completion of program and employment.

The Employment Navigator for our BFET & BankWork$ Programs will be based out of Lakewood, WA in a full-time, hybrid role (in office and remote).

ABOUT THE JOB

The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate with BankWork$® and BFET team to market the program through social media, outreach activities, and from partner agencies and community based organizations (CBO’s).
  • Determine eligibility and/or appropriateness for program; enroll and explain program participation requirements.
  • Customize service plans for participants using program model service components and help participants progress through their service plan; participating in on-going assessment of participants over course of program delivery.
  • Assist participants in identifying strengths to overcome barriers that lead to successful completion of program and employment through one-on-one coaching during course of program.
  • Counsel on appearance, dress code, and necessary professionalism to obtain and maintain employment.
  • Assist participants with resume preparation, completion of paper and on-line job applications, and interview preparation.
  • Provide intensive support and coaching to participants who need more long-term support to succeed (i.e., job club, one-on-one coaching, follow-up, etc.).
  • Build relationships with banking/financial industry partners to determine business needs, promote candidacy of participants, and develop job opportunities for program graduates.
  • Emphasize participant choice and shows sensitivity around placing participants in positions where they can thrive and that fit their interests, backgrounds, and desire.
  • Conduct a structured participant follow-up effort in coordination with Instructor to provide appropriate coaching and support to maximize job retention of placed participants; including on an as needed basis for up to 12 months after hire.
  • Record and maintain enrollments, case notes, service plans, program-related expenditures, and exit outcomes; ensures accurate and timely entering of data in multiple MIS systems; maintains client files in both hard and electronic versions.
  • Update and maintain database for tracking and reporting of BFET and BankWork$ program outcomes.

EXPERIENCE/POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum one-year of experience working with workforce development, social services, job placement, job development, sales, job coaching, employment and training, or related field.
  • Requires advanced level use of: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; LinkedIn, and other business-related networking applications, as appropriate.
  • Must be able to work in a culturally diverse and fast-paced environment and demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and cultural competency.
  • Daily availability of personal vehicle or alternate method of transportation sufficient to meet the daily transportation requirements of the position is a condition of employment. Copies of driver’s license and auto liability insurance coverage is required for personnel file at time of hire and annually thereafter.
Preferred
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in:  Business Administration, Human Resources, Social Work, Communication, Workforce Development, Psychology, or Sociology.  Appropriate work experience may be substituted for the education requirement.
  • Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP).
  • Demonstrated success working in a performance based system.
  • Demonstrated success working with people from a variety of backgrounds which may include disabilities, criminal history, homeless, family violence, poverty etc.
  • Experience in public speaking and presentations to a diverse community.
  • Experience working in the banking industry.

Job: Employment Navigator – BFET/BankWork$
Primary Location: Lakewood, WA (hybrid)
Salary: Full salary range is $53,000-78,000. Most starting salaries start at or near the base of the range, however could be higher DOE.
