TED is searching for a vibrant, smart and passionate creator to help launch TED’s presence on TikTok as well as support future content strategies for Instagram Reels and other emerging social media platforms. The Emerging Social Formats Editor will be the writer, producer and on-camera talent of TED’s TikTok channel. They will also be the community manager of the TED on TikTok platform, helping grow a new, vibrant community through experimental storytelling that has learning, inspiration and joy at its heart. To achieve this goal, the Emerging Social Formats Editor will coordinate with a team of talented creators in the TED universe to create innovative short-form video content in subject areas such as science, technology, psychology, design and more!
This is a full-time, independent contract role through Spring 2022, with an option to extend long term.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Writing, filming and producing original video content native to TikTok
- Appearing on camera as the “face” of TED’s presence on TikTok
- Community management of TED’s TikTok page including comment moderation and curation
- Executing programming and content strategy for TikTok in partnership with TED’s Audience Development team and other internal creators
- Coordinating content development for Instagram Reels in partnership with TED’s Audience Development team
- Coordinating content creation with internal and external stakeholders across the global TED universe
- Coordinating production and lending filming and editing support other content creators;
- Weekly analytics and insights reporting, in collaboration with our Audience Data Analyst
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications or other relevant field or equivalent experience
- 3 years of experience creating mobile-first, native-to-platform social video content
- 3-5 years of experience maintaining a social media presence. Experience with doing so at a large brand or educational organization is strongly preferred.
- Strong editorial background
- Experience maintaining a social media calendar and production schedule
- Comfort working with influencers and in partnership marketing
- Familiarity with real-time social media analytics and putting data into action
- Fluency with Google G-Suite products.
Desired skills:
- Passion and knowledge of emerging social media platforms such as TikTok, Clubhouse, Instagram Reels and live social video
- At least 1 year of experience creating content exclusively for TikTok
- Ability to communicate big ideas through bite-sized content
- Creative problem solving skills
- Experience using social media to promote and support in-person events.
